Each year, Amazon Accelerate engages sellers with in-depth learning sessions, provides vibrant networking opportunities, and offers personalized support from Amazon experts to spur their growth.
At this year’s conference, sellers had the opportunity to attend a session dedicated to 3D’s game-changing contributions. The ecommerce giant is recognizing AR’s role with new tools and insights — and we’ve got some important takeaways covered for you here.
AR continues to be the differentiator for shoppers
Accelerate attendees heard that the marketplace has now added AR to its search filters. Shoppers can limit their search results to only products that offer 3D/AR capabilities on their PDPs, giving sellers even more reason to prioritize 3D in their strategy.
The marketplace’s continued investment in 3D speaks to the power of the technology. Amazon regularly announces exciting new developments and features, and the latest figures highlight why.
Amazon data shows an appetite for AR is growing among consumers who feel like the technology lets them get a better look at the products they’re browsing. Over 31% of shoppers who used Amazon’s AR offerings say it led them to make a purchase.
Products on Amazon with 3D and AR enabled see a 9% increase in sales and products with view in your room enabled see a 20% decrease in returns. Overall, there is a 1.5 to 3.5 times higher conversion on products that use AR and View in 3D.
Amazon introduces an answer to rendering difficult textures.
Anyone who has worked with 3D models knows that some textures are easier to render than others. At Accelerate, Amazon experts outlined the etailer’s solution.
The Amazon Seller app includes a 3D mobile scanning tool that can be useful for difficult textures like fur. Users can scan their product at home with the app and the file generated can be utilized to create a 3D model that would otherwise not be eligible for Amazon’s 3D experiences. As a trusted Amazon partner, Loft3Di can help clean up scans and ensure they meet the marketplace’s rigorous QA standards.
Keep in mind, however, that you will not able to retrieve the final 3D file for usage in other applications (such as your own Shopify account). If you wish to retain the file, Amazon recommends working directly with a designated modeling provider like Loft3Di to get access to the original file for future use.
